Thermo Q Exactive hybrid quadrupole-Orbitrap GC-MS
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The GC-Orbi is used for the identification and quantification of small molecules at high chromatographic and mass resolution and high sensitivity. This instrument is capable of automated liquid and headspace gas sampling, and solid phase microextractions (SPME) for MS analysis with electron or chemical ionization (EI, CI). In service as of December 2015.
Thermo LTQ Orbitrap XL LC-MS
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The Orbitrap employs a hybrid system that combines the speed and sensitivity of a linear ion-trap with the high-resolution and mass accuracy of an Orbitrap. These instruments are utilized primarily for bottom-up proteomic analysis.
Agilent 6460 Triple Quad LC-MS
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The Triple Quad deliver robust, accurate quantification of analytes present at low levels through selected reaction monitoring (SRM/MRM). These instruments are regarded as the gold standard for precise quantitation, and an ideal choice for rapid separations and high-throughput analysis of diverse compound types.
Thermo LCQ Deca XP Plus Ion Trap LC-MS
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The LCQ is a quadrupole ion trap offering ruggedness and reliability in general use, including analyzing drugs, metabolites, and proteins. Its MSn capability makes it a unique tool for the structural elucidation of complex molecular structures.
Applied Biosystems Voyager-DE STR MALDI-TOF
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The “DEath STaR” is used for matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI) which is an ionization method that generates low charge state ions (often singly charged species), allowing the measurement of fragile structures from small (metabolites, drugs) to large molecules (protein, nucleic acids, polymers). This ionization method is tolerant of a wide range of adulterants that are frequently used in biochemical sample preparation, many of which would otherwise interfere with electrospray ionization.
Agilent 7500ce ICP-MS
[More information]
Center for Health Sciences 68-146 Kym Faull
faull@chem.ucla.edu
310-206-7881
The 7500ce is a high sensitivity reaction cell ICP-MS for trace elemental analysis, such as the quantitation of metals and other elements (generally of atomic mass greater than carbon).
